The Iconography Guild of St. Theodosia was formed January 2012 for the Glory of God at Christ the Savior Orthodox Church. 

We are to study and practice together the sacred ancient Christian art of painting/writing the Divine Light, the Image of God in Man, in the Byzantine-Russian tradition.

As students of iconography we are responsible to convey prayerfully and correctly the scriptural truth within the icon, according to the canon established by the church. We will follow the process taught by the Prosopon School of Iconology, (see www.prosoponschool.org)  with the mentorship of master iconographer Fr. Mefodii, from the Skete of St. Maximos the Confessor.

Our first meeting was held at Christ the Savior Orthodox Church. Fr. Mefodii visited, brought the icon of St. Theodosia he had written, and offered guidance for future meetings. At this writing the Lord has blessed us with 20 members.

We are to strive for a high level in executing the multi-step process and to learn the corresponding spiritual symbolism that enables the Divine Light of God to shine through the icon.

To coincide with writing icons we are to develop our spiritual lives. Through spiritual discipline and growth within the guidelines of the Orthodox Church we also strive to enable the light of His image to shine through us as we "pray the image into wood."

Dates/Times: We plan to meet monthly, usually the first Saturday of each month, 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. This may vary, so see our parish calendar (http://ctsoc.org/schedule.html).

Activities: We plan to practice each step of the process of writing an icon from the beginning to the end. Fr. Mefodii will visit us at least quarterly to critique our work.
